CPS Workshop 10 November 2007 'Oriental Inspirations' with Ewan Clayton Venue: Evington Village Hall, Hastingleigh
Over the past few years, beginning with the
Spring Lines Exhibition in 2001, Ewan has had an interest in learning from the
traditions of Calligraphy. In this workshop he hopes to share how this interest
has affected his perception of western Calligraphy and we will be looking at
ligaturing letters. We will look at what it means to be Avant Garde in other
cultures and try some of the techniques this suggests - allowing for more
spontaneity, freedom and movement in our work. We will also look at some of the
tools and materials other calligraphic cultures (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese)
employ. |
