CPS Workshop 16 July 2007 'Rustics' with Paul Antonio Venue: Evington Village Hall, Hastingleigh
The session on Rustics will start with a look at the historical development of the hand. We will look at the Roman Period and the letterforms present in this period in both the high book and monumental incarnations as well as those in the vernacular. Republican Capitals, Imperial Capitals, Square Capitals and the beautiful First Century Roman Majiscule Cursives all have a hand in the evolution of Rustics. The workshop will also look at how Rustics differ across the period, not just over duration, but also application. I also have a little surprise that will no doubt give some of you a real kick: a little theory I have been working on about the development of our writing system! Hope this has piqued your interest? |
