I just wanted to contact you re the exhibition we have booked for October 2014 at Cranbrook Library, which we agreed would be a follow on from the Folkestone Exhibition last year. The library is very excited about having our exhibition and looking forward to showing our work, which should also be good for the CPS as it is a new venue for us.
I hope that you will be able to support this exhibition by submitting a piece selected from the artwork you displayed in Folkestone, which could be one of your artworks, or your 20th anniversary piece, or a new piece of work, or an envelope. Cranbrook is a small gallery compared to Folkestone, with very limited wall space, but I understand they have a number of display cabinets where we can display books, or smaller artworks on stands. We will have to be flexible about what we can display when we hang the exhibition, and it may be sensible to think about putting in one or two smaller pieces of work, on the understanding that we might not have space to include everything, but it would be helpful to have a selection to choose from.
At this stage, as agreed, we have limited the entries to members of the CPS who exhibited in Folkestone, but not in Deal, which was also a small gallery. I have also included the members of the CPS exhibition committee, who will hopefully be helping with posters, labels and publicity etc. We will also need help with setting up the exhibition, particularly if you are handy with a drill and can help with mounting the artwork. The gallery can be flexible on dates, and please indicate on the attached entry form, which dates would suit you best, either mid-week or Saturdays. I am only available on the Saturdays as I am working, but I am happy to wait and see what suits everyone. If you are not able to help with the set up of the exhibition, please arrange to deliver your work to a local member who can bring it for you, or we can collect work in at the workshop on September 20.
If you would like to submit work please complete the attached entry form and return it to me by September 8th either by post or email. The forms are important as we have to let the gallery have an idea of the total value of our work for their insurance purposes. We also need the information to produce the labels and I will photocopy a set and leave them with the library, so they can contact you if anyone wishes to purchase your work. It will also give us an idea of the number of entries we have and if we need to open the exhibition up to other members. I hope you can support this exhibition and your prompt response would be much appreciated. I think I have included everyone but if there is anyone I have obviously forgotten, please let me know. I will send a copy to Margaret by post.
I look forward to hearing from you.
